Had
TWO toddler filled birthday parties for Liam last week, all the while feeling sick.

I 'm not too inspired today...just need a little rest.

Will Someone Come To The Rescue?

Posted by lasta Tuesday, March 24, 2009

Talk about a diamond in the rough! This house is listed as one that can be renovated,
or "build your own dream". In Houston that means this house's time is ticking!
It has a hefty price tag, but it is gorgeous.

This is such a great kitchen. If only it could be saved from the unfortunate slate floor.

So many wonderful possibilities!!

Do y'all love Ms. Johannson, as much as I do?
What a question!

Eatable of Many Orders, is a Japanese company that stresses the importance of the "ingredients" of fashion.
I love the the beautiful materials and shapes of their clothing.

Once these spectacular pieces go up, all other walls will be filled w/ envy!
These were found via a new shop I love called 14 Feet.

A Special Place In Our Hearts

Posted by lasta Thursday, March 19, 2009

This news is so sad. First for the obvious tragedy of Natasha Richardson losing her life @ such a young age, but also because of the special attachment Mark and I have to Liam Neeson. When we were thinking of what to call our son, we didn't set out to name him after the actor, but when we saw "Liam" on one of those baby name lists we said, "Oh, he (our baby) could be just like Liam Neeson!" So we made the decision to use that name on the spot! Mark and I are die-hard movie lovers and Liam Neeson is high on our list of favorite actors.
I know that it seems strange to feel personally touched by a loss experienced by people we don't know, but they are still just people. They are a husband, sons, parents, siblings who lost someone so unexpectedly. Today I am saying a prayer for this family. I am also praying that I always remember that no one has a guarantee of tomorrow and that I make the most of everyday. I don't want to waste any opportunities to let my family know just how much I love them.

If I Could

Live out my dreams, I would definitely own these beautiful pieces.
Thanks to Me Melodia, for reminding me of this site. Do any of you remember this house?

On My Mind: Exposed Beams

Posted by lasta Monday, March 16, 2009

A detail I can't seem to get off my mind lately, is exposed beams in the ceiling. Maybe its because I dream of having soaring ceiling heights, but in reality I live w/ only 8ft. If I were willing, and by "I", I mean my husband and I; we could tear out the boring ceiling and give our home a lot more interest and breathing space. I'm not holding my breath for the collective "I" to make that decision, but I really do love this idea!

Be sure to see the rest of this amazing home renovation, via Inhabitat.

Design Sponge.
How I would love to move into this kitchen. I might even have to cook something.

The First Couple of Cool.

Sixx Design is a favorite among bloggers, and w/ good reason. Their style is daring (how many other designers would think of including photos of Tupac?) and fantastic. Personally, I'm intrigued by their gutsy approach of taking run-down spaces and turning them into design gems, while working together no-less! I love my husband to death, but I'm not sure we could collaborate on this scale.

In April, Sixx Design is releasing a book called Downtown Chic. It will be a great source of inspiration from a couple who are a wealth of information.

Screen Time

Posted by lasta Thursday, March 12, 2009

Shelley McDonald of Frou-Frou & Claude (That's a great name!) sent photos of her very cool upholstered screens.
They can be custom made, so they are only limited by your imagination.

I love screen dividers; even if you don't have a large, open loft space. They can look great against a wall or perhaps behind a sofa.
They are also great for adding a large expanse of pattern on a wall w/out committing to wallpaper...I have commitment issues.

A Little Treat For Me...

Posted by lasta Wednesday, March 11, 2009

Its impossible to resist stopping by Home Girls while in Austin.
While there I picked up a little gift for myself (Yeah!)
Its an
Alyson Fox drawing, its so delicate and pretty.
Now I need to find the perfect frame. I'm thinking bright white, maybe?

Happiness

Posted by lasta Monday, March 9, 2009

So, Friday afternoon we decided to drive to Austin at the last minute. Many of you may know that my husband and I make Austin trips on a regular basis. I do a lot of wondering around whenever I'm there, so I kind of assumed I was familiar w/ most of the shopping sites...but I discovered I was wrong! (I get so excited when I find new places to shop). Driving down South 1st, I discovered a group of shops called Happiness. There isn't an easy way to describe it. It sits behind a couple of funky vintage clothing stores. You kind of have to know where it is, because its hard to see. Basically, its a collection of tiny sheds. They are centered around a tree-lined courtyard and are filled the works of various artists. The little sheds feature different types of art and handmade objects. My favorite pieces were the creative planters. Happiness really lives up to its name; I forgot about all my troubles and became absorbed in the bohemian atmosphere.

Quiet Please...

Posted by lasta

I am not a morning person.
I do not like losing an extra hour in the morning, they are tough enough. As you can see, I am sort of grouchy today and need a quiet place to collect my thoughts. I had a fun weekend, and want to write about it, but that will have to wait till later.

Now, where's my coffee?

A Slight Change Of Scenery

Posted by lasta Friday, March 6, 2009

Happy Friday!
I know some of you have had trouble finding my blog the last couple of days. I tried to switch my domain to dot com site, but it hasn't been a smooth transition. Last night, even I couldn't find it! Until I figure out what I'm doing wrong, I switched back. If anyone has suggestions, please let me know.

Also, this week I decided to shut down my booth @ Heights Antiques. In recent months its been very difficult to make any money, so I decided to move out. I want to thank all of you who stopped by. It was nice hearing from those of you who did. My long time plan has been to begin an online store and I have been hard at work trying to make it happen. I hope to have it up very soon. I can't wait! So I'm hoping to have several fun changes soon.

(I realize these photos have nothing to do what I'm writing about, but I think they're so pretty. I would like to be this girl)

The Trip Of A Lifetime.

Posted by lasta Wednesday, March 4, 2009

This is so exciting to me, I don't even know where to begin!
I received an email notifying me of a chance to travel to Thailand with Vicente Wolf. Yeah!
I'm blown away. Only ten people can go and it definitely requires quite a bit of spending money,
but it would be great to go. Anyone interested in sponsoring me...anyone?

A Different Perspective

Posted by lasta

I often love squinting my eyes when looking at something, so I can only see beautiful colors. Trever Hoehne's series called "Blurry Things" does just that. Try it sometime! Even the most mundane object takes on a whole new appearance.
Note: I also see the world like this every time I take my glasses off...Astigmatism.

A Source Of Inspiration.

Images are a great source of inspiration to me and I have collected a large amount of them.
Very often I can't fully describe why they inspire me, so I don't always post them on this blog.
I decided to collect these images as a way to generate ideas for myself. Find them HERE
and perhaps they will inspire you too.
