Hotel Palacio de los Patos

Posted by lasta Sunday, November 30, 2008

As usual, every time I have several days off; I wind up wishing for more time off. Anyone else feel like that? It just seems harder to get back into the swing of things. So, today instead of thinking of work; I'm thinking of the Hotel Palacio de los Patos, in Granada Spain. (I know its a mouth-full). I've always dreamed of traveling to Spain, and this hotel would be a place I would go. Its very beautiful and wonderfully eclectic:)

Weekend Reading.

Posted by lasta Saturday, November 29, 2008

Hi everyone! Today is Saturday and I am still in the middle of visiting all of my relatives. I came home only for an hour or two and found a refreshing site, I wanted to share. "The Free Encouragement Project" started by Booooooom and Design For Mankind, is a collection of uplifting phrases submitted by readers. Who couldn't use some encouragement lately? Here are a few of my favorite phrases. Check out the site for smile! Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend:)

I Am Grateful...

For each
new
morning
with its
light,
For rest
and
shelter
of the
night,
For health
and
food,
for love
and
friends,
For everything
Thy
goodness
sends.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Speaking My Language

Don't you love it when you find a site that looks like you might have made it yourself, if you could have?
That's how I feel about a site called
Factory 20. It has an amazing variety of vintage furniture. A little of this, a little of that...you can get lost!

Two Horses And a Blue Sky.

Posted by lasta Saturday, November 22, 2008

I was scrolling through my photos, and ran across some old favorites. A couple of years ago while visiting home, we drove by these beautiful horses on the outskirts of town. Of course, I made Mark pull over immediately. I didn't know if the horses would be startled by my walking up to them, but instead they very willing models.

Modern Affordable.

If you are like me, you are in love with most of the contemporary pre-fab homes. The simplicity and rapid building process is very enticing. Unfortunately, many of the pre-fab builders are just as expensive as standard home builders...sometimes even more expensive! That really takes the wind out of my sails. So, I was very excited to find an Austin company called ma. Check out their website, their entire concept is very fascinating.

Going Country.

I'm ready to pile into an old pick up truck and head to the country, after seeing these photos! Refueled's 2nd issue is all about alternative country style...love it.

Love At First Sight

The instant I laid eyes on this blog, I became an addict! Appropriately called The Impossible Cool. It features all those people that are cooler than most of us could ever hope to be. I'm just disappointed that I didn't think of this first!

More Than A Shot.

A Shot Of Color.

For all those who are color-phobic, a great design trick is to use color in small quantities. Of course, for more of an impact; its better to use a strong color that really stands out. This French home is a WONDERFUL example. It has amazing punches of color in every room. Another trick is to repeat the same accent color through out the room. How about painting the inside of cabinets?!

I'm not too big on DIY, but these lampshades just might change my mind!

Maybe, I Just Like Sitting.

Do any of you ever catch yourself living a particular pattern over and over? Like when you buy a new dress or pair of shoes, and then realize you already have multiple pairs that look exactly the same! Yet when you were buying the shoes or dress, you didn't remember that. Well, that's how I am about photographing chairs, of all things. As I scroll through all my photos, there's always at least one photo of a chair! I find this to be rather amusing, so I decided to group my chair collection on my Flickr site. Here are two of my recent favorites. I'm not sure if this some insight into my soul, or if I just like sitting down.

Not Just Me.

So last week I wrote about my current infatuation with marble, and discovered that I am not the only one who loves it. While scrolling through Phorm Design's blog I found the amazing bathroom above. I was salivating on my monitor! The best part is that the rest of the house, designed by Pierre Yovanovitch is just as fabulous.

Alright, its almost 1:30 a.m. so I think I will go to bed. I'm sure a lot of you are losing sleep tonight watching the election results. With all the emotion, I'm having trouble winding down. Its definitely the verge of a new day here in the U.S. You all may realize, that the party I supported didn't win so obviously I am somewhat disappointed. On the other hand, I am SO proud of all the people who took their responsibilities seriously and voted! Even a young girl who had to call her mom just to ask what her address was. Hey, she got out there and did it. I really hope and pray, that more than a new President, we have a new found sense of patriotism and responsibility. I know I already used that word, but I think it is very important. I don't want to sound preachy, so I'm trying to keep my thoughts restrained.
My point is that although, I didn't vote for our new President; I feel that only good things can come from so many people realizing that they have to be involved in our country's affairs.
Again, sorry for the preachiness:)

I Wish It Was Sunday.

Posted by lasta Monday, November 3, 2008

'Cause that's my fun day. Ha! A gold star for anyone who remembers those lyrics. I really did have fun on Sunday at the Urban Market, but Monday I spent feeling sick...not fun. So, I'm going to keep the writing short and sweet, but I will share my favorite photos. (I guess that isn't very different).

These two lovely ladies are Sally Wheat and Jackie Sharbrough. Jackie took ownership of organizing the Market this year and is an antique dealer herself! Sally is also an antique dealer and designer who refurbished the amazing set of white chairs above. Some of Cote de Texas readers, may remember seeing her amazing house here. I've become a fan of her mid-century furniture and driftwood pieces. Both of their items can be found here.

So, most of my shopping trips consist of walking around and taking photos. I am happy to say that this trip actually turned up a treasure I had to have. This table is will work perfectly for a small project for my house. I need my husband to adjust it a little, so I'm not going to promise photos of the finished product. Sorry, Mark. I love him to death, but projects often take longer than I like.

We Had So Much Fun.

Posted by lasta Saturday, November 1, 2008

We went on our first Trick-or-Treat trip. We really had so much fun, especially since the "big boy" picked his own costume! He was "Handy Manny"...its a toddler thing.
