I finally did something I've wanted to do for quite a while. I started my own Flickr group! Its been on my mind for a long time, but I couldn't decide what the theme should be. Finally, this week it hit me, how about photos of unusual vignettes! As is often the case, I thought of this for myself first. I wanted a group for the many photos I take of "curious" moments. So I'm inviting all of you who like to preserve these types of configurations to check out my group and maybe join it! (Here)

On my most recent trip to Kuhl Linscomb, I fell in love with this guy. I think I could give him a great home:) Go to Moooi's site to see him.
Ooh, I'm so excited about this! Modern design for kids from Knoll. I say down with plastic cartoon character furniture! Great design can be very fun and functional for the little ones too. Just don't leave magic markers around...if you know what I mean;-)Those of you who read regularly know how I love to go on and on about simplicity and minimalism. Well, all that is true; but I do have a confession to make. I love, LOVE paisley patterns! Yeah! I mean paisley is about as opposite from minimalism as one can get, right? Just the word brings up images of stuffy British libraries or something. I know, but I still love it. The intricate patterns and color combinations have always intrigued me. They are sort of an optical illusion. Some of you are probably skeptical, so I found a few examples of modern ways to use such a traditional pattern. With large scale and modern colors, these paisleys are anything but stuffy:)
Don't you just love this chair? I mean no one can object to paisley, when its coming from Anthropologie! This is just so yummy!
Attention! Houston readers don't miss Harbenger Duo's furniture line at Design Within Reach, tonight.
I'm so excited to see this cool line and to meet Audrey!
P.S. if you're there stop me and say hi:)
I would love to have some of these furniture pieces! The amazing texture is achieved by painting directly onto the fabric. It is made by an artist and furniture designer named Draga Obradovic.Found via Labour of Heart.
I dropped by the Houston Decorative Center the other day, and this furniture collection really caught my eye. Its actually outdoor furniture, that is to die for! I love its ingenious combination of teak and aluminum.
Hey everyone! I've been having a lot of technical difficulties w/ my internet, so I haven't posted all the things I wanted. I'm feeling a little frustrated. I would love to be here.
Okay, I'm finally back with the second post. Brace yourselves, because I have a crazy amount of pictures. I planned this trip in more detail than normal, but when I arrived; everything fell apart. We checked in to our hotel Fri. afternoon and were hanging out, when I realized that I forgot to pack ANY shoes! The only shoes I had were the ones on my feet...red flip-flops. What a disaster! I mean, my pedicure didn't even look good w/ red. (The next day, I realized I forgot to pack Liam's shirts too. Until I bought him some more, he walked around in his pajama shirt). Despite, my lack of proper footwear, I decided to stick with my shopping plans.First, I stopped at Grange Hall.
I can honestly say, that I was excited to go and I wasn't disappointed. This is a must see for anyone visiting Dallas.
The showroom has amazing lighting, and very unique merchandise. I've never seen anything quite like it. I was sucked in by the mysterious and moody feel.

Directly next door to the Gypsy Wagon, is one of my favorite new finds. Again and Again Consignment Furniture, is a vintage lover's dream. Besides being filled with all kinds of mid-century treats, they can customize every piece to your liking.
This lively green painting, was one of my favorite pieces. I had one of those funny flashback moments when I saw it. I think I've seen one like it sometime in my life, but I'm not sure.

Sometime ago Joni wrote a post about shopping at Tory Burch. I've never been there, so it was on my to-do list. But, like a lot of my trip; things didn't work out. I got there about 45 minutes too late! Nooo! I stood outside peering in through the windows; it was so sad. Here is a tip for anyone visiting Dallas, don't show up after 6:00 p.m. or on Sundays. You will be very disappointed. In my defense, I get to see all the shops because my trip was also a mini family reunion. I think I was trying to fit in a few too many things. Overall, my family and I had a great time.I received an email informing me about this very cool furniture from Orange 22. These pieces are made of aluminum, and can be used indoors or out. Its not always easy to find contemporary outdoor furniture, so I love these pieces that can be used as tables or seating. Here is a link to Orange 22's website. Also, they were kind enough to send a sneak peek to some new pieces created by some very well known designers.

If I wasn't the one writing this statement, I would never believe it. ME? Liking brass? I'm the one who has made people get rid of their brass objects anytime I could! But now, I can't seem to keep my eyes off of it. Just this week, I was at my favorite thrift store, and couldn't resist picking up these brass items. First, I was attracted to the four floral drawer pulls. Their color and shape was so wonderful, I just had to have them. Plus, its not often you can find a set of pulls for a reasonable price. The second photo, is of brass chimes. I thought they were rattles at first, but they weigh about 5lbs. each. The funny thing is, I looked at them and then put them back down. Right after that, a woman walking by picked them up. So, of course you know what happened next. As soon as she put the chimes back down, I ran over and grabbed them. Now, what am I going to do with these finds? Well, I haven't figured out that part. I'm just glad I didn't come out with all the other brass items I saw. Why am I liking brass so much? (I would like to clarify, that I like antique brass...no shiny stuff from the 80's) I think a lot of it is the retro feel, which I love so much. Also, its just so different from everything thats out there. The good thing is I am not the only one who is smitten with brass. Here are just a few cool and modern brass details.
The Jonathan Adler sconce is so sophisticated and fun at the same time. It reminds me of something you might see in a chic, 1960's movie. In the same room, I would love to add this vintage Baker coffee table from 1st dibs. I actually saw a table just like it recently, and loved its sculptural qualities. Finally, also from 1st dibs, I found this 1970's "Skyscraper" chandelier. I like it because it doesn't read as "70's" only. It would look just as great in a more traditional setting; to me it also has a "Craftsman" quality.

A fun look at the people behind all those beautiful decor photos.
I've had chairs on the brain. Along the way I stumbled upon some fabulous pieces that I love.

I think my favorite are the last two pieces. They are from a "new to me" shop called Dana John. The shape and fabric of the two pieces are so swank. I couldn't resist showcasing a few more fabulous finds from this shop.

Too bad Christmas is over. I would love to add these items to my gift list. I guess there is always Valentine's day, or Mother's day, (especially, since I just had another sleepless night with my son crying half the night. Three years old, and the kid still won't sleep through the night!) I need shopping therapy, Ochre has a New York shop. I've been a long time admirer of Ochre, (previous post), but was not aware the had a store here in the States. They have a knack for finding beautiful luxurious items. Their website is worth looking at just to see their wonderful photos.Buscar No Google
